Northern France, Paris. Circa AD 1460. Leaf (3.78”x4.65”). Medieval Book of Hours. Illuminated leaf containing a prayer with passages taken from Psalm 129 (verses 1b and 3b) followed by a reading of Psalm 137: 1-4a. Both passages from the Vulgate (Psalms 130 and 138 in the Protestant Bible). Decorated with lovely floral decoration and illumination around capital letters and throughout the text. From a prayer book worthy of someone of substantial means for the time. Attractive gold, blue, red, green, and white illumination. Good ink, quite clear and readable. Minor browning at edge, small old price and code penciled in at lower margin. Good VF. A very attractive leaf.
