France, Poitiers. Circa AD 1470. Leaf (4.33”x6.18”). Medieval Book of Hours. Illuminated leaf containing part of the Officium Beatae Mariae with the second half of the liturgy reading “Gloria tibi Domine, Qui natus es de virgine, Cum patre, et sancto spiritu, In sempiterna saecula. Amen.” Followed by Psalm 8: 1-8b in the Vulgate. From a prayer book worthy of someone of substantial means for the time with detailed floral and fauna motifs at the border. Wonderful and attractive gold, red, blue, green, and silver illumination. Ink intact and quite readable. Slight browning at edge, old price and code penciled in at lower margin. Good VF.
