Laureate head right / DE BRITANN on architrave, triumphal arch, surmounted by an equestrian statue of Claudius left, between two trophies. RIC I 44; von Kaenel Type 31, – (V558/R567 – [unlisted die marriage]); Lyon 60; Calicó 351; BMCRE 49 (same rev. die); BN –; cf. SCBC 633 (for rev. type). Toned, minor edge scrape on reverse. Fine. Rare. The reverse celebrates the Roman conquest of Britain, which began in AD 43.
