Carausius. Romano-British Emperor, AD 286-293. AR Denarius (18mm, 3.53 g, 6h). Uncertain mint. IMP CARAVSIVS P F AVG, laureate, draped, and cuirassed bust right / EXPEC TA VENI, Britannia standing left, holding wreath and clasping hands with Carausius, wearing military attire and holding spear; altar between them. RIC V.5 236 (forthcoming; this coin noted); RIC V –; Shiel p. 119, 9; RSC 36. Deeply toned, find patina, light deposits. Good VF. Extremely rare. Only two examples noted in RIC V.5 (this coin and the Triton XIV example).
