SELEUCIS and PIERIA, Emesa. Caracalla. AD 198-217. BI Tetradrachm (26mm, 12.65 g, 12h). Struck circa AD 215-217. Laureate, draped, and cuirassed bust right, seen from the front / Eagle standing facing, head and tail left, with wings displayed, holding wreath in beak; between legs, radiate, draped, and cuirassed bust of Shamash left. Prieur –; Naville 19, lot 299 (different rev, die). Toned, light roughness, a few deposits, cleaning marks. VF. Extremely rare, the second known. This bust type not known to Prieur for Caracalla in Emesa.
