POTTERY. Magna Graecia. 6th-4th Cent. BCE. Two pottery fragments: (105 mm tall x 70 mm wide) pitcher. In three pieces with some missing. Red figure painted. AND, Lid to bowl. (40 mm tall x 75 mm wide). One edge of lid is missing. The vase with squat foot, a tear shaped vase that tapers into a squat neck with a trefoil folded spout. 2 fragments of the handle present but not restored. On the body, the head of a lady of fashion faces left, surrounded by flares on either side. The second piece is a simple lid with black glazed fields in concentric circles. Some loss to vase with handle missing. One edge of lid is chipped/missing. Some encrustation. |
