POTTERY. Magna Graecia. 6th-4th Cent. BCE. (130 mm wide x 120 mm tall). A guttus with a ribbed body and a large, tall foot. A spout extends with a long neck and wide, trumpeted lip in 90 degrees from a small, round handle that extends from the shoulder and body of the lamp. Atop the lamp, an impressed image of the bust of Apollo (?) with his right arm raised over his head. Some encrustation and lose of highpoints on the face and lip of the vessel. Some loss to glaze but otherwise intact. |
