ISLANDS off THRACE, Thasos. Circa 390-335 BC. AR Tetradrachm (23mm, 15.43 g, 7h). Chian standard. Bearded head of Dionysos left, wearing wreath of ivy with berries / Herakles, wearing lion skin, kneeling right, drawing bow; ΘAΣION to left, labrys to lower right; all in linear square. Pixodarus 30a = Hunt IV 182 (this coin, illustated); West 32bis; Le Rider, Thasiennes 23; HGC 6, 342 (unlisted symbol). Lightly toned, a couple of die breaks, small flan flaw and area of weak strike on obverse, minor doubling on reverse. Good VF. Very rare issue with labrys.
