Carausius. Romano-British Emperor, AD 286-293. AR Denarius (12.5x16mm, 2.19 g, 6h). RSR mint. [...] RAVSIVS P F AVG, laureate and draped bust right / CO R D AVR (retrograde C), Neptune(?) seated left on rock, holding long scepter (or trident(?)); [R]SR. Cf. RIC V 552-3 (for similar reverse composition); cf. Shiel 28-9 (same). Deeply toned, chipped, scrapes. Good VF. Very rare.
