IONIA, Ephesus. C. Fabius. Praetor, 57-56 BC. AR Cistophorus (24mm, 12.53 g, 1h). Knosos, magistrate. Cista mystica with serpent; all within wreath of ivy and flowers / [C FA BI M F] PRO COS, two serpents entwined around bow and bowcase decorated with with apluser; above; Artemis advancing right, holding bow and arrow; EΦE to left, flaming torch to right; in exergue, KNωΣOΣ. LRC Group VIII, 33 (O5/R33); Stumpf 24; Pinder 175. Lightly toned, minor marks, reverse slightly off center. Good VF. Very rare, only five recorded in LRC.
