C. Caecilius Metellus Caprarius. 125 BC. AR Denarius (17mm, 3.94 g, 10h). Rome mint. Head of Roma right, wearing Phrygian helmet; mark of value below chin / Jupiter, holding reins and thunderbolt, driving biga of elephants left; above, Victory flying right, holding wreath. Crawford 269/1; Sydenham 485; Caecilia 14; RBW 1085. Iridescent toning, remnants of collector’s inventory number on obverse. Good VF.
