HANOVER. temp. George II. 1727-1760. Æ Badge (30x44mm, 10.01 g, 12h). The Loyal Order of the Blue and Orange. Struck 18th-19th century. Coat-of-arms within garter inscribed GLO : PRI : AVG in eight-pointed star set on octagonal altar inscribed NON DE FECIT AL TER and QVA/ DI NON; all within decorative border / MINOR EST QVI INVIDET, sheaf of arrows through crown, entwined with ribbon inscribed VIS VNITA FORTIOR; all set on garlanded base decorated with skull’ all within decorative altar. Integrated loop and marginal ornamentation. Woolf 42:1a; MI 486/24. Brown surfaces. Good VF. Very rare.

The Royal Order of the Blue and Orange was founded shortly after the death of George I to, “commemorate the principles of the Revolution and the succession of the House of Hannover. It remained active into the 19th century.
