THRACE, Perinthus. Antonine Era. Circa AD 120-175. Æ Hemiassarion (22mm, 6.04 g, 12h). Obverse brockage. Draped bust of Zeus right / Incuse and reverse of obverse. Cf. Schönert, Perinthos 157-60; cf. RPC IV.1 Online 8671-2. Brown-green patina, light smoothing, reverse pitting. VF. This obverse is only paired with a reverse of Apollo standing left, holding lyre, and leaning on column. There are two minor varieties of the type, both attributed to the Antonine period. |
