PAMPHYLIA, Aspendus. Trajan Decius. AD 249-251. Æ (32mm, 17.14 g, 12h). Laureate, draped, and cuirassed bust right, seen from behing / Agon, radiate, standing left, holding palm and casting vote by dropping ballot into urn to left. RPC IX 1049; SNG BN –; SNG Pfälzer –. Red-brown surfaces, slight roughness, cleaning scratches. Near VF. Extremely rare, only three recorded in RPC.

Agon was the personification of conflict, struggle, or contests; in this case, possibly representing the many wrestling victories for which the city was known.
