Faustus Cornelius Sulla. 56 BC. Fourrée Denarius (17mm, 3.43 g, 2h). Rome mint. Laureate, diademed, and draped bust of Venus right; scepter to left / Three military trophies; capis to left, lituus to right; FAVSTVS monogram in exergue. Cf. Crawford 426/3 (all references for official issue); cf. Sydenham 884; cf. Cornelia 63; cf. RBW 1528. Iridescent toning, light porosity, breaks in plating at edge revealing core, old collector’s ink “439”. VF.

The reverse design of this issue is said to be a copy of the signet ring worn by Pompey the Great. The three trophies relating to his victories on three continents.
