JUDAEA, Gaza. Hadrian. AD 117-138. Æ (31mm, 22.16 g, 12h). Dually-dated epidemia 3 and CY 192 (AD 131/2). Laureate, draped, and cuirassed bust right / Distyle temple, containing Diana standing right, drawing bow, and Marnas standing left, holding bow and branch; Γ, BЧP (dates), and mem (for Marnas) in exergue. RPC III 4023 var. (obv. bust left); Sofaer 55-6 var. (dates). Dark green patina with some light earthen highlights/deposits, some light smoothing. Near VF.

An interesting variety, where it appears that the year (Γ) is an H. As the coin does not appear to be tooled, especially in the exergue where the date appears, perhaps this is an engraver’s error? Year 8 (H) should be in conjunction with ZЧP (197).

Closing Date and Time: 29 July 2020 at 11:12:00 ET.

All winning bids are subject to an 18% buyer’s fee.
