LANCASTER. Henry VI. First reign, 1422-1461. AR Groat (27mm, 3.74 g, 11h). Rosette-mascle issue. Calais mint; im: cross fleury/plain cross. Struck 1427-1430. Crowned facing bust within tressure of arches; fleurs at cusps / Long cross pattée; triple pellets in quarters. Whitton, Heavy 27; North 1446; SCBC 1859. Richly toned, minor flan flaws and marks. EF. Rare cross fleury variety. Lot includes an old ticket in the hand of A.H. Baldwin, with additional notes in pencil on reverse indicating hoard pedigree and that it was purchase from Baldwin’s in 1952.
