Laureate, draped, and cuirassed bust right, seen from behind / NI KOΠOΛ ITΩN ΠPOC ICTƱ in five lines. HH&J, Nikopolis –; Calomino, Bilingual G1 corr. (rev. legend); RPC VI Online 1360 corr. (same); Varbanov –. Brown patina, slight roughness. VF. Extremely rare, only two recorded in RPC. HH&J do not record any coins of Severus Alexander for this city, the two listed in Varbanov are both noted as having “no evidence of authenticity” and are different types. RPC records one other assarion from one specimen.
