Gordian III. AD 238-244. AR Antoninianus (23mm, 4.58 g, 10h). Antioch mint. 1st series, AD 238-239. IMP CAES M ANT GORDIANVS AVG, radiate, draped, and cuirassed bust left, seen from front / LIBEPAL ITAS AVG (sic), Libertas standing left, holding pileus and vindicta. Bland, Gordian III 19; RIC IV 187b; RSC 127; McAlee p. 316, fig. 28A (this coin illustrated); Gemini IV, lot 473 (hammer $725) = George His Collection (Triton V), lot 2062 (part of) = Lanz 66, lot 776. Light gray toning. VF. Extremely rare bust type – only two known to Bland, only the Gemini specimen on CoinArchives.
