IMP M IVL PHILIPPVS AVG, radiate, draped, and cuirassed bust left, seen from front / P M TR P VI COS P P, radiate lion advancing right. Bland Study 96 var. (lion left); RIC IV 239 var. (lion left, bust type); RSC 43 var. (same); cf. NFA 26, lot 287 = Bland, Gold 49 (dies PII 30/TR P VI 02, for these dies used on a unique double aureus). Toned, some corrosion, roughness, and porosity. VF. Rare – this combination of bust and direction of lion unrecorded by Bland.
