MACEDON (Roman Protectorate), Republican period. First Meris. Circa 167-149 BC. AR Tetradrachm (34.5mm, 16.71 g, 9h). Amphipolis mint. Diademed and draped bust of Artemis right, bow and quiver over shoulder, in the center of a Macedonian shield / Club; monogram and MAKEΔONΩN above, ΠPΩTHΣ below; all within oak wreath, thunderbolt to left. Prokopov, Silver, Group III, 637.1 (O139/R – this coin, illustrated); HGC 3, 1103. Toned, struck from heavily worn obverse die, scratches on obverse. VF.
