Diademed head of the deified Alexander right, with horn of Ammon; MHNOΔ below / Athena Nikephoros seated left, left arm resting on shield, transverse spear in background; ΣΩΣIΘ to inner left, monogram on throne. Callataÿ, Tétradrachme, dies D1/R– (unlisted rev. die); Thompson –; Müller 564 corr. (obv. name not noted, corrected monogram); cf. HGC 3, 1750 (for type). Toned, remnants of find patina, trace deposits, light cleaning marks. Good VF. Very rare, only ten known; Callataÿ notes seven examples, with three additional in CoinArchives (the example in CNG 41 and 43 is the NFA XXXIII coin noted by Callataÿ). |
