Laureate bust right, drapery on shoulders, seen from the front / HωC, Eos advancing left, head right with billowing veil, holding torch and bridle of horse prancing right, head left; L Δ (date) across field. Eos was the Greek goddess of morning or dawn, and Homer describes her as accompanying Helios on his course through the heavens. She is shown holding one of the horses of Helios on this coin type, and as she was not known to the native Egyptians, her name is usually spelled out on the reverse. Eos is only depicted on drachms of Marcus Aurelius and Lucius Verus.
