CILICIA, Tarsus. Gordian III. AD 238-244. Æ (36mm, 17.80 g, 12h). Radiate and draped bust right, seen from behind, holding spear and shield decorated with gorgoneion / Perseus standing facing, head left, wearing chlamys, holding statue of Apollo Lykeios holding wolves, harpa, and head of Medusa. RPC VII.2 3094; SNG BN 1710; SNG Levante –. Brown patina, some roughness. Near VF. Extremely rare, three recorded in RPC.
