Contorniates. Late 4th-5th centuries AD. Æ Contorniate (42mm, 29.58 g, 6h). In the name of Honorius. HONORIO AVGVSTO, diademed, draped, and cuirassed bust right / ARTEMI VINCA, the charioteer Artemius in facing quadriga, head right, holding wreath and palm frond; below, INVNDATOR PENNA. Alföldi, Kontorniat 450 (dies 135/184). Brown patina, holed. Near Fine. Very rare.

This contorniate is another example of the stock reverse type of a victorious charioteer in a facing quadriga that was seen in the previous lot. All examples name the charioteer and his horses, but in this case only two are named, Inundator and Penna.
