Contorniates. Late 4th-5th centuries AD. Cast Æ Contorniate (35mm, 25.03 g, 12h). Figure standing facing, holding wreath and bridle of horse in background standing right; additional engraving to add a beaded border and strengthen the figures / Charioteer in facing quadriga, holding wreath and palm frond; part of horse tack inlaid in silver; additional engraving to add [...] DONATVS above and to strengthen the details. Alföldi, Kontorniat 626. Green and brown patina, patches of roughness and corrosion, partially re-engraved in antiquity. Good Fine. Extremely rare – only three in Alföldi, none with this name engraved, and this the sole example in CoinArchives.
