Draped bust of Artemis right; bow and quiver over her shoulder; all within the center of a Macedonian shield / Club right; KOΣON above, ΔPOYEIΣ below; all within oak wreath; thunderbolt to left. Fischer-Bossert, ΚΟΣΩΝ, Type A; Hourmouziadis –; RPC I –; HGC 3, 2050. Lightly toned, scratches, some find patina. VF. Rare.

These drachms imitate the Macedonian First Meris tetradrachms struck half a century earlier. The reverse legend ΔPOYEIΣ refers to Koson’s home tribe or region of central Dacia.
