CAPPADOCIA, Eusebia or Kaisareia(?). Late 2nd-1st centuries BC. AR Hemidrachm – Triobol (12mm, 1.43 g). Triangular object with pellet at corners (Mt. Gerazim?) / Two vertical clubs; A between; all within wreath. Unpublished, but for simiar diobols, cf. CNG E-573, lot 271; cf. CNG E-514, lot 186; and cf. Obolos 5, lot 448. Lightly toned, minor marks. Near EF. Extremely rare.
The attribution of this issue to Cappadocia is predicated upon a close association of the obverse type with the triangular representation of Mt. Gerazim on some issues of Archelaos (cf. Simonetta 7–8), as well as civic issues of Kaisareia (cf. Simonetta 26 and 28).
