Carausius. Romano-British Emperor, AD 286-293. Antoninianus (23mm, 4.38 g, 8h). ‘SC’ mint. Struck circa AD 290-291. Radiate, draped, and cuirassed bust right / Genius, turreted, standing left, feeding serpent coiled about and rising from altar set at his feet to left and holding cornucopia; S|C//–. RIC V.5 3344 (this coin cited and illustrated). Dark brown-green patina, minor flan crack. Good VF. Extremely rare. One of two examples cited in RIC V.5. The other residing in a public collection.

From the Chris Bailey Collection, purchased from Ken Elks. Reportedly found in Belgium circa 1979.
