(legends, long cross); North 818 var. (same); SCBC 1175 var. (same). Find patina. EF. Extremely rare. An unrecorded reverse variety.

The previously known dies of this moneyer for the Small Flan type were read “+ EDPIE...” by Harvey, who followed Freeman and others who interpreted it was Eadwine, but noted that Eadwig was also a possibility. The present coin more clearly reads + EDPIG, supporting the later interpretation. The reverse type is also notable in having a voided long cross, rather than a short cross, likely an individual mistake or variation by the engraver.
