TUDOR. Edward VI. 1547-1553. AR Crown (42mm, 31.04 g, 8h). Third period, fine silver issue. London (Tower) mint; im: У. Dated 1551. Edward, armored and holding sword, on caparisoned horse right / Coat-of-arms over long cross fourchée. Woodbridge A/4; North 1933; SCBC 2478. Richly toned, a few minor marks in fields and at edge. VF. Well struck with a pleasing profile of the king.

The young Edward VI is known to have taken a direct role in the production of his Fine Silver coinage. The king himself had drawn a design for the new crowns and halfcrowns, though it is not certain if the image that ultimately prevailed was his own.
