The issuer of this coin has been plausibly identified with Sa‘id b. Najah, brother of Jayyash. It was this Sa‘id who defeated and killed ‘Ali b. Muhammad, the founder of the Sulayhid dynasty, while the latter was travelling to Mecca at the behest of the Fatimid imam al-Mustansir, who had ordered him to re-establish Fatimid authority in the Holy Places. Album does not record any coins of Sa‘id b. Najah.
