Otto Thomas Sghia – Set of two (2) New York Numismatic Club Presidential Medals in Sterling Silver (38mm, 31.57g, 12h) and Bronze (38mm, 27.65g, 12h). Artist: Karl Gruppe. OTTO/ THOMAS/ SGHIA in three lines at left, 1941/42 in two lines at right, KARL GRUPPE in exergue following edge of rim, bust in business suit left / NEW YORK NUMISMATIC CLUB • ORGANIZED 1908 •, reverse 2: torch-bearer in Classical tunic holds a coin whose bold rays enlighten ancient civilizations. IoC p. 179 (this silver medal referenced). The silver medal lightly toned, some faint hairlines. The bronze medal has a small contact mark on obverse. Otherwise, about as made. Serial number 13 on the silver medal. Serial number 22 on the bronze medal. Two (2) medals in lot. 34 silver and 25 post-World War II bronze medals were struck.

The bronze medals were not struck until after World War II due to the copper shortage.
