NAPOLEON EMP. ET. ROI., laureate head right / French Hussar on horeseback right, cutting down Russian foot soldiers; BATAILLE DE LA MOSKOWA/VII SEPTEMBRE/MDCCCXII. in three lines in exergue. Bramsen 1162. Red-brown patina, minor marks and deposits. Superb EF.

From the J. Eric Engstrom Collection, purchased from Baldwin’s, 1965.

This medal was part of the pre-war stock of Baldwin’s, and survived the London blitz deep in the cellars of the firm’s offices on the Embankment.
