Crowned facing bust within tressure of arches; lis at cusps / Long cross pattée; triple pellets in quarters. Cf. Whitton, Heavy 30g-h/36 (for obv./rev.); cf. North 1461/1485 (same); cf. SCBC 1875/1899 (same). Irregular flan. A few light marks. Lightly toned. VF. Very rare and unusual mule.

From the Buck sale: “This coin is struck from the same reverse die as a Calais trefoil issue Groat in the Reigate Hoard, lot 338. Silver output at the Calais mint had dwindled to virtually nothing at this period and this very interesting coin may be either a pinecone-mascle/leaf-trefoil or pinecone-mascle/trefoil mule.
