Carausius. Romano-British Emperor, AD 286-293. Antoninianus (22mm, 4.73 g, 6h). ‘C’ mint. Radiate, draped, and cuirassed bust right / Centaur walking left; holding scepter (?) and raising hand; C. RIC V 271. Brown patina. Near VF. Very rare.

The Legio II Parthica was originally raised by Septimius Severus in AD 197. The reverse depicts a centaur, the unit’s emblem of recognition, holding a rudder, symbolizing a vexillatio, or unit detachment.
