Commemorative Series. AD 330-354. Lot of forty (40) Æ Folles. All coins: Plastic coin tube with 40 various Urbs Roma coins from mints of Constantinople, Thessalonica, Heraclea, Nicomedia, Cyzicus, Treveri and Siscia, from the Higgie Hoard. Nearly all have some oxidation and have not been cleaned. Commemorative coins were struck to honor both Rome and Constantinople. The Urbs Roma type alludes to the legendary founding of Rome with the imagery of the she-wolf and twins, and the latter alluding to the recent naval battle over the Licinii with Victory advancing from a conquest. The Urbs Roma series was struck throughout the empire at various mints. Fine to VF, varying degrees of encrustation. LOT SOLD AS IS, NO RETURNS.
