VANDALS. Municipal coinage of Carthage. Circa 480-533. Æ 42 nummi (28.5mm, 10.46 g, 9h). Class 1. Var. a. Carthago standing facing, holding three grain ears in each raised hand; all within wreath / NXLII, macron above; all within laurel wreath with large central jewel. Hahn, Wertsystem pl. 20, 13; MEC 1, 34-8; BMC Vandals 3. Near Fine, brown patina, some pitting.

From the Ken Bressett Collection. Purchased at a coin show c. 1980 for @ $5.
