Galba. AD 68-69. AR Denarius (17mm, 1h). Rome mint. Struck circa July AD 68-January 69. IMP SER GALBA AVG, bare head right / S P Q R/ OB C S in two lines within oak wreath. Cf. RIC I 164 (aureus); RSC –. Toned, traces of earthen deposits. In ANACS encapsulation 7184991, graded VF 35. None in CoinArchives, RIC, or RSC.

This type with the reverse legend in two rather than three lines is known only for aurei, though we could find no die matches to any sold or published examples. It is difficult to tell through the slab, but there appears to be a slight bubbling of the surface to the right of SPQR on the reverse. That, combined with the slightly unusual style, suggests that the piece may be a fourrée.
