Anonymous issues. 1st-3rd centuries AD. PB Tessera (17mm, 2.41 g, 12h). Fortuna standing left, holding rudder and cornucopia / Crown; R to right. Rostowzew 2227. Dark gray surfaces. VF. Rare – only one example know to Rostowzew.

While the basic depiction of Fortuna is the most ubiquitous type for the Roman tesserae series, the addition of a crown makes this example much more interesting. The crown appears with a handful of other reverse legends in Rostowzew, compared to the hundreds of types without.

Closing Date and Time: 6 April 2022 at 12:06:00 ET.

All winning bids are subject to an 18% buyer’s fee.
