Pierre Isaac Arnauld d’Andilily was a military officer serving under Louis XIII. He constructed and commanded Fort Louis, outside of La Rochelle, a major point of contention between the crown and the protestant Huguenot city that lead to the Siege of La Rochelle. The siege lasted from 1627-1628 and marked the last major resistance of French Protestants against the king.
