Head of Athena right, wearing crested Attic helmet decorated with serpent, and pearl necklace / AΛEΞANΔPOY, Nike standing left, holding wreath in extended right hand and cradling stylis in left arm; in left field, Pegasos flying right; monogram below left wing. CPE 24; Svoronos –; Zervos Issue 83, dies 746/a; Price 3974; SNG Copenhagen –; SNG Berry 189 (same dies). Lustrous, faint marks and a couple of edge nicks, slightly off center and trace of double strike on reverse. EF. Extremely rare, only two in Pella, both in museum collections (ANS [the Berry example, noted in all the references] and BN); none in CoinArchives, nor the ANS photofile. |
