PAMPHYLIA, Aspendos. Circa 465-430 BC. AR Stater (17.5mm, 10.85 g). Warrior advancing right, holding shield and spear / Triskeles within incuse square. SNG BN –; cf. SNG von Aulock 4482–3; cf. SNG Copenhagen 175; CNG E-451, lot 146. Lightly toned, struck with worn dies, flan flaw on obverse. Overstruck on an stater from an uncertain mint in southern Asia Minor, with types: crenelated city wall with three towers / Forepart of bull advancing right (cf. CNG 109, lot 190). VF. |
