ISLANDS off ATTICA, Aegina. Circa 550-530/25 BC. AR Stater (19mm, 11.95 g). Sea turtle, head in profile, with thin collar and row of dots down its back / Rough incuse square with proto-“Union Jack” pattern. Holloway, Archaic, Group A, unlisted dies; Meadows, Aegina, Group Ia; cf. Milbank Period I, pl. I, 1; HGC 6, 423; ACGC 113; Boston MFA 1106; Dewing 1655; Selinus Hoard 46 (same rev. punch). Old cabinet tone, granular surfaces. Near EF. Well centered on a broad flan. Very rare early issue.
