Green jasper amulet. Roman Egypt, 1st-2nd centuries AD. Oval, beveled intaglio with an engraving in four rows, depicting from top to bottom: three scarabs, three birds standing right, three male goats standing right, and three cobras (uraei). Dimensions: 21x16mm. See Kelsey Museum 26109b for similar uses of animals in motif. Light chips, otherwise intact and in good condition.
