[IMP] D CAES DIVI VES F A[VG], laureate head right / CERES AVGVST, Ceres seated left, holding patera and scepter. RIC II.1 836 (R3); RPC II –; Schulten (19 April 1989), lot 340 (same obv. die); Leu Numismatik Web Auction 17, lot 2373 (same obv. die). Dark green patina, brassy highlights, minor roughness. VF. Extremely rare. Only one example was known to Carradice and Buttrey when they compiled the Second Fully Revised Edition of RIC II.1, which was published in 2007. This is probably the third known example. |
