Commodus. AD 177-192. Æ Sestertius (30mm, 23.84 g, 5h). Rome mint. Struck AD 178. Laureate and cuirassed bust right / Libertas standing left, holding pileus and vindicta. RIC III 1590 var. (bust type; Marcus Aurelius); MIR 18, 427-6/35; Banti 198 (same obv. die as illustration). Blue-green patina, minor metal flaws. VF. Rare.

The rarest bust type known to Banti for this issue. He cited only one specimen for his no. 198, although his 199 (itself only known by two) is only differentiated by plates on the back of the cuirass.
